What is a Service?
Service schedules vary but they typically include routine replacement of service parts – such as oil, air & fuel filters, engine oil, spark plugs, brake fluid, screen wash, antifreeze.
A wider ranging safety inspection including checking and replacement of additional items such as bulbs, brake pads, & shoes, brake discs, cambelts and pollen filters.
A service can also highlight other problems, if any. Services are normally due annually, even for a low mileage car.
Now due to EU legislation you no longer have to pay main dealer prices to keep your warranty valid, so you may have your car serviced here at Arundel Road Garage.
What is a MOT?
An MOT test is simply a safety check of your car following a specific but limited checklist laid down by the Government. It is a legal requirement and is carried out annually.

Tyres
Your tyres are the only point of your car in contact with the ground, so for safety’s sake they must be maintained. The law states that there should be a minimum of 1.6 mm of tread across the central ¾ of the tyre and all the way around. During your vehicles annual MOT test the tyres and wheels will be inspected. This will include their condition, security, size, type and tread depth.
WHEN SHOULD YOUR TYRES BE REPLACED?
- If after a puncture a tyre specialist detects a defect that renders the tyre unrepairable.
- If the tyre is not suited to the vehicle.
- If it has reached the legal limit of wear.
- If there is localised abnormal wear.
- If it shows signs of ageing.
- If it shows cuts or deformations likely to harm safety.
MAINTENANCE OF YOUR TYRES…
- Check your tyre pressures once a month.
- When your tyres are changed make sure the valves are also changed.
- Balancing is equally important to avoid premature wear of the tyres, suspension and steering components.
- Get your tracking checked.
